Why not move WordPress over to your new hosting service?

    Hi James

I would love to do that! I know Wix.com can host wp.com sites but so far I can’t find any help with wp.org sites (self hosted).

The only other catch … the tutorial you pointed me to, requires that I log into my blog and that is my biggest problem at the moment! I can’t access my WordPress at all :o(

    Cheers

Sorry, I’m not entirely clear on what’s going on here.

Do you still have your old hosting account so you can move everything back and try again?

    Hey James

I’ve gotten a few things sorted out since my last post – thank goodness! It’s been quite a bit to get my head around!

I have transferred the hosting of my domain hosting from Eleven2.com to Wix.com (Wix also host my new website).

My wordpress blog was http://www.gabbylewis.com/journal at Eleven2.com but since the domain/website began being hosted at Wix I can’t access login to my wp.

I am in the process of setting up a subdomain at Wix.com to point to my blog still with Eleven2.

I am hoping once that’s in place I will be able to login to my WordPress – this is still my problem :o( – I can’t get into my WordPress!!

    Hope you can advise! :o)

Hoping to bump this thread for some help please!!!

I have now set up a subdomain at Wix.com – onevoice.gabbylewis.com and am pointing it to an IP address where my wordpress blog is being hosted with Eleven2.com.

I also had to set up onevoice.gabbylewis.com at Eleven2 and move all the folders from http://www.gabbylewis.com/journal to onevoice.gabbylewis.com – I moved everything except the old cgi-bin.

Now my wordpress blog shows up but only content, no template and still no access.

If I click on a link it goes back to http://www.gabbylewis.com/journal which redirects to Wix.com.

If I try to log in to wordpress at onevoice.gabbylewis.com/wp-admin I get redirected to http://www.gabbylewis.com/journal which again redirects me to Wix.com.

I am now completely lost! Any help would be appreciated!!!

    Gabby,

This is exactly what just happened to me. Have you been able to figure anything out? I haven’t created a subdomain yet…it sounds a little time-consuming and difficult.

I have my domain name through GoDaddy, and wix is now hosting. I think. I had to change the name servers from my old hosting company to point there.

I can’t log in to my WP blog anymore–I get the same problems you’re having. I’ve *found* it, but it’s just like you said–the tamplate’s all wrong, etc.

We need help! Preferably step-by-step instructions!

    Cheers,

    Hi Christa,

I was lucky enough to come across a very helpful person at Eleven2 where my wp blog is being hosted.

He reinstalled all my backed up wordpress files for me and everything is almost back to normal! The only issue I have now is that my entries don’t automatically update to show the latest one first. S

    Hope that helps.

Hmmm…I suppose I could try that. Unfortunately, my hubby was hosting my website, and he wasn’t very helpful yesterday! I wonder if I need to do something at GoDaddy, where I have my domain name.

@oodelally3 As Go daady is just registrar for domain name and you have chnaged your DNS to point Wix then there not much you can do at Go Daddy.

I have posted the answer on other post.
