linking hidden pages

I wish to have links to many private pages from within one non private page. I do not wish the private pages to appear on the page side bar because it would appear very messy. The links only work when the pages are made non private or I am in edit mode logged into the host server. The private links don’t work when a direct connection is made to my site.
