WP sites navigation n longer working

    I’m helping someone get there WP site back online. The main page works but all the menu links give a generic page not found error.

    What I’ve figured out so far is that the pages of to these menu links are all in the “Pages” section in dashboard. All these pages have the content in them. When I click on “Preview” I get the same page not found error. Of course the Home page does preview correctly.

    They are using the Natural Health theme with 4 widgets.

    The version is 3.0.1 which I think was recently updated from 2.8.6.
    There are 3 active plugins that have updates available.
    Events Calendar
    Maintenance Mode
    Smart Youtube
    I tried deactivating these one at a time but no results as far as a fix. I will upgrade these after I backup the database.

    I backedup the entire site via ftp and now I’m about to backup the database.

    The whole story as to what happened isn’t very clear since the former webmaster isn’t available for comment. There was mention of upgrade automatically being clicked which may have caused the problem.

    have you tried re-saving the permalinks?
    dashboard – settings – permalinks

    I backed up the database, downgraded to 2.8.6 via ftp without replacing the wp-content and the wp-config-sample.php but I’m still getting the same results.

    I’ve noticed when I turn off the Events Calender plugin that the Navigation menu highlights appropriatley as the mouse hovers above the menu links but other than that nothings improved.

    I’m considering a way to recreate the site with the same template.

    Eagerly looking for suggestions or ideas.
