If that doesn’t work, open a wordpress.com blog and import your blogger blog to that. Then, export your wordpress.com blog and import it to your primary WordPress blog.
Hi James,
I’m a non-tekkie newbie and want to export from Blogger to my own domain using Socrates theme and WP.org.
I’m scared shitless that I will ruin/stuff/lose my blogger blog http://nodavebarry.blogspot.com
I’ve looked at many suggested solutions in this forum, and is seems all but possibly this one include complaints about losing comments, etc.
Is THE ABOVE solution the one that WP OFFICIALLY recommends? And is there a video or printed step-by-step instruction sheet on how to do it? One written for newbies. In English. Short words. No jargon?????
If people who are moving from Blogger to WP are a significant revenue stream SURELY WP should give us all the help we need!!!!!!!
Cheers

You blogger blog will still be there, so you don’t have to worry about that.

No, for now it’s just a work-around. Importing from Blogger used to be as easy as going to Tools/Import in your admin panel and selecting “Blogger.” Unfortunately, Google changed something on their end and the formerly easy method does nothing more than display the error mentioned at the the start of this topic. The volunteers who develop WordPress are working on a fix.
The work-around that I linked to is not official, but it should work for now.
If it doesn’t, wordpress.com has already compensated for the change. So, you should be able to import the Blogger blog into a wordpress.com blog. Then, export the wordpress.com blog and import it into your self-hosted WordPress blog. It’s a “Texas two-step,” but it should work.
As these are just temporary work-arounds, there’s no documentation or videos.

WordPress is a free, volunteer developed, and community powered blogging platform. There is no revenue to be gained by WordPress from anyone using it (unless you plan to donate, of course). The volunteer developers will fix the easy import system when they can. I image it won’t be too long from now.
