    Hi Support,

We have set the Yoast schema settings for our site to have the Default Article type as “Article”.
However, the blog posts still does not say “Article” for its type when views its HTML markup as well as being tested on Google’s Rich Results test.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks!

I would just like to add more info to the reported issue is that if you do a Rich Results Test https://search.google.com/test/rich-results for the page I shared…

There are structured data detected for “Breadcrumbs” and “Sitelinks searchbox” but not for an “Article”, please see below:

So the Article type is actually not working for Blog Posts. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

    Hello @thefriendlancer

Thanks for reaching out regarding the Article schema. By default, a post should output the Article schema. Since this is not the case, please check these two settings:

    1. Schema settings for Posts is set to Article (default) in WordPress > Yoast SEO > Search Appearance > Content Types > Posts > Schema settings

    2. In the schema tab of the Yoast SEO meta box when you edit that particular post, ensure it is set to Article (default)

Do let us know how it goes.

@maybellyne – Yes, on both Yoast SEO settings and in the specific post in question, both are set to “Article”.

    Thanks for the feedback, @thefriendlancer

I believe some schema pieces which are required properties are missing.

Can you go to WordPress > Yoast SEO > Search Appearance > General and ensure you’ve provided the necessary information about your person or organization? We have a guide to help you decide what type is appropriate for your site here: Search Appearance: organization or person?

Yoast SEO will output the Webpage type instead of the article schema if this information is missing. Does that solve the problem?

@maybellyne – Thank you! that fixed the issue.
