• Total newbie here. I am trying to do a test wordpress site on a subdirectory within my business site just to learn the ropes. The site is hosted by Yahoo Web Hosting. My initial confusion is on what files I need to load. Yahoo has an option to load WordPress directly, but is that all I have to do, or do I have to load files from WordPress.org too?

Also this is probably a stupid question, but is there a difference between a wordpress blog and a wordpress website? I’m looking to do more of a full website rather than just a blog. The Yahoo direct install just seems to set up a real basic blog template. If I start with that, am I still going to be able to have the full range of modification and design options as I would if I downloaded the files from WordPress.org?

Does any of what I wrote make sense?

Just use the automated installer provided by Yahoo.

Traditionally, WordPress was just a blog, but it has grown significantly over the years. Now, a WordPress installation can become just about anything. I suppose it’s easier to think of it as a website with a blog.
