• We are having an issue on our site, where a form takes 4-5 seconds to fully submit (the browser waits for 4-5 seconds before making it clear to the user that the submission is successful). Run CF7 v 5.6.4, PHP 7.4, and WordPress 6.0.2 on Linux.

We have tried disabling all of the CF7 add-ins (eg Success Page Redirects), and this has had no impact on the time it takes for the submission to complete.

We have turned on debugging and we do not see any errors.

Do you have any thoughts on identifying the issue causing the slow submission?

• Hey, everyone, try making a duplicate version of your site: a staging version, that you can run locally on your computer, and see if you still have the same issue.

You can make a duplicate version of your site using a plugin like Duplicator, and then import the file into a program such as Local by Flywheel.

If you don’t have the same issue, then your server is the issue.

Some cheaper servers are slow.

The server we are using is part of a reasonably high-end business hosting package and has very good performance. It is not a cheap consumer shared hosting server.

Our site is built using the Cornerstone page builder.

We also have installed the following CF7 add-ons. The last 2 are normally disabled. Disabling the first 3 does NOT improve the performance issues:

1) Success Page Redirects
2) Extension for MailChimp
3) Honeypot
4) Email before download (normally disabled)
5) CF7 to Webhook (normally disabled)

@curioelectro @plantprogrammer Don’t you think it’s rude to hijack others’ threads and have a talk ignoring the OP? Please open a new topic.

@frost0103q Can you share the URL of the site?

Thanks for your reply.

Here are two (of many) pages that use ContactForm 7.
1) This page collects no data on the form: codebroker dot com/call-center-customer-appeasement-research
2) This page collects data on the form: codebroker dot com/excellence_in_co-pay_program_measurement

And, if you need, I can create a private staging site for you if that would be helpful.

Try switching to the default theme (Twenty Twenty-Two or Twenty Twenty-One), deactivating all plugins excluding Contact Form 7, Classic Editor, Really Simple SSL and Yoast SEO, and clearing all cache data.

Why you are advised to deactivate plugins and switch to the default theme.

We changed to the 2022 theme, cleared the cache, and turned on only the plug-ins you suggested and it still takes 5-6 seconds for the form submit to complete. We also tried turning off all plug-ins except CF7 and got the same result. We also tried updating to WordPress 6.1 and that did not help either. What do you suggest we try next?

We tried some addtional experiments but were unable to solve the issue.

We cloned the site, deleted CF7 and all associated plug-ins, then re-installed CF7 and created a new form and a new page.

When the form is submitted on the new page, it still takes 6 seconds or so to submit.

We created a brand new WordPress site and installed CF7 and created a new page with the default form, and the submit was fast – so as expected, the server is fine.

Is there a way to manually uninstall all of the files associated with CF7 from our web site?

We did have Flamingo installed at one time, but no longer. Could that be impacting this?

Are there any files we should review/remove to make sure that can get a clean install of CF7? Ideally, I’d prefer to not lose the 70 or so forms we have created.

@frost0103q

Hi, I found the solution after 2 days and a lot of hassle of changing hostings and what not.

So, make sure in the sender’s email i.e TO : ________________ should only be your domain email and not any @gmail or @yahoo etc.

The to column should only have email as for example : info@yourdomainname.com

I hope this helps others.

Cheers! <3

Thank you for your response.
We checked and the To: field appears to be configured as you suggest. Please see the image, below. (We have blacked out the specific email address, but the form is as you describe.
Do you see any issues with this configuration?
