• “Please note: You never, ever put your site url in the permalinks slot. You must use one of the structure tags, or a combination of tags only.”

What if a person has done this?

Is there anyway to “retrieve” the URL after the Post has been Trashed?

If one building a website and you want people to go to a certain page when they type in just the URL then how do you do that?

    Thanks for any help

    Hi guys,
I have the same problem. Is there anything I can do to save/recover my files or maybe the whole blog?
Please help – After five hours, I finally found out what the problem is, but there is no description on the whole web to solve it.

Thank you very much in advance…

Why not just go and correct the setting on the Settings->Permalink page?

I don’t have access to any wordpress page anymore – even to the admin panel – can I correct them manually?

What URL are you talking about correcting then? Did you post in the wrong thread? This thread is talking about the Permalink settings. Changing that would not block access to your site.

If you changed the Site URL incorrectly, then you can change it back by reading these instructions: http://codex.wordpress.org/Changing_The_Site_URL

    I did this:

I don’t know what that is or what that means. Changing the settings on the Permalink page will not disable the back end of your site (at /wp-admin). Just go back to the back end of the site and correct the settings.

Hm…it did – I don’t know then what the problem is…I don’t have any access to wordpress over my browser…every page is “forbidden” – http://willbee.de/wp/wp-admin/

Is there a way to reinstall wordpress without losing all my articels, pages and themes?

I deleted the .htaccess and recover the old permalink-structure in the database manually – now it works again and at least, the page is on again

But still, when I change the structure in the admin-panel, an .htaccess file is created and the site crashs again…

If your site crashes from the .htaccess file, then you need to contact your host and find out what is broken with their configuration.

    Thanks a lot! I’m gonna do that…
