Thanks for the quick response! It seems that when I attach images to a page that they are given permalink urls and not attachment_id urls. Mousing over the first image:

The image is represented by:

Where can I find the attachment id in this case?

Check in the Media panel, under Library. When you hover over an item you should see the attachment ID. Kind of annoying to have to leave the post to find this, I know, but it works for now. I haven’t been able to find a hook to add it into the Media Uploader yet.
