Hi,
I just want to clarify if you have restored the website from a backup?
Have you tried resetting the permalinks?
Thanks,
Bryle
Hi Brocda,
thank you for your help.
Hopefully you find the clarification that you seek with this information :
1- I have backed up my website talexence.com with updraftplus when it was hosted with hostinger.
2 – I then created a cyberpanel VPS to host my own website and through cyberpanel created a new WordPress website using talexence.com.
3 – I downloaded Updraft plus plugin and uploaded all the backup files from my formerly hostinger hosteed website to my new talexence.com.
4 – As far as i remember no message of error or mistake appeared, however the home page changed to be the one of a freshly installed wordpress website and not the one I had on my previous host. The rest is working perfetly.
As for your question : ‘ Have you tried resetting the permalinks? ‘
=> as you asked, I have been to permalinks and clicked on ” save change ” but didn’t see any change on the home page.
Maybe an information that is valuable : whenever i am connected as admin to my website, the home page changes to be the good one, however, when I try to connect to the website without admin connection, the home page changes to the twenty senventy default one.
Let me know if this help. Thank you very much.

Hi,
Does your original site use twenty senventy as its theme? If not, does the desired theme exists in the “Themes” list?
Thanks,
Bryle
Hi,
I have checked through FileZilla my original website and the theme twenty twenty two was indeed present in the theme file.
Kind regards.

Hi,
Is it using the same theme? I just think that the restoration was successful but the theme got switched causing the home page and other pages not to show
Thanks
It’s also possible that you are seeing the previous cached homepage. Do you get the same if you visit it from a different device that has never visited the website before, on a separate network connection? Is there a cache plugin in WordPress that can have its cache emptied?
Hello,
thank you agan for your support, please kindly refers to the answer below.
Regarding brcdo question : Is it using the same theme?
the fresh website used twenty twentytwo whenever it was erased for the backup.
the main website always used esothera as a theme. It had twenty twentytwo in the theme folder but wasn’t activated.
Regarding David questions :
1 – Do you get the same if you visit it from a different device that has never visited the website before, on a separate network connection?
Yes David, the problem persists through a incognito window or any other webrowser which tells me it isn’t a cache problem.
2 – Is there a cache plugin in WordPress that can have its cache emptied?
I can try emptying the cache still even though the clues that we have seems unfavorable for a cache problem.
N.B : I will try to remove the twenty twenty two theme in the folder made by updraftplus in the backup and reinject it on the new website to see what it does. I will let you know if this solve anything.
Kind regards.
here are some messages of errors I had while remaking a backup :
The site in this backup was running on a webserver with version 7.4 of PHP. This is older than the server which you are now restoring onto (version 8.1.6). You should only proceed if you have checked and are confident (or willing to risk) that your plugins/themes/etc. are compatible with the new PHP version. Any support requests to do with PHP should be raised with your web hosting company.
File (backup_2022-08-07-1510_talexence_116822719ee2-plugins.zip) was found, but has a different size (20971530) from what was expected (74454254) - it may be corrupt.

Hello everyone,
I have fortuitely discovered by clicking on the ” sample page ” of talexence.com (wrong home page), that my home page has been changed in the URL https://talexence.com/home-2/.
I have no idea how this came on and just discovered it. Now I do have a problem to put my home page on talexence.com as the twenty twenty two theme has forced its home page.
Is there anything I can do to put my home page back on talexence.com ? Plus it is kinda weird as now my home page is on https://talexence.com/home-2/, but in my dashboard, the URL for this homepage is talexence.com. So It kinds of confuses everything up.
Let me know if you have any solution.

Hi,
From your WP dashboard go to Settings > Readings > Your homepage displays > A static page > select the page you want to display as your home page.
Thanks,
Bryle
Hello bcrodua,
the setting you are talking about was set up from the very beginning but for some reason, it didn’t put the static home page selected.
Now the website homepage is working conveniently and I finally found a solution.
Many thanks.
