    Hello there,
I am using a (Free) web host called 000a.biz, which has a generic auto-installer. The installer offers WP 2.8.5, which of course is outdated. I’ve installed WP 2.8.5, but unfortunately, when I try to upgrade my installation to 3.0, I can’t because the FTP access isn’t direct to the specific site. The way it works is:
    1. Login to the FTP server
    2. Click on the folder of your site (yoursite.com)
    3. Go into the folder “htdocs”
    4. There is what would normally be called the “root” of the site.
How can I get the auto-updater to get there so it can find the root folders and files? HELP ME OUT HERE! ARRRRFGH!

  • I recommend deleting your old core files and doing a fresh install of WP3 at the folder yoursite.com/htdocs/. I didn’t formally understand the 4th point of yours. Anyway, auto-installers are just waste of time. If you need some help in installing, feel free to ask me.

The root of your website can be different depending on setup. Mine is /home/ipstenu/public_html for example. Your htdocs folder is probably your webroot.

You can manually upgrade to 2.9.2 or 3.0 by copying the files up to your htdocs folder.
