sorting post listings…..?

Hi, i am wondering if its possible to somehow order the method of listing posts, i really need certain posts on this site to have priority over others.

At the moment they are alphabetically listed with the aid of a plugin which is fine but im hoping to put in a system where people can pay to appear in the top 10 or top 5. Ive wondered whether you could edit the titles of the posts somewhere with a ‘A’ prefix for position 1 then ‘AA’ for position two etc. so they would appear above the A-Z listings….not that i would have any idea on how to do that.
