Adding a home tab to thematic.

Hi,

I’ve seen a few posts explaining how to add a home tab to thematic, but unfortunately I didn’t understand the solutions. One of them said.. copy a the child-theme and edit it. Hmz… I didn’t get that one. Sooo… could someone please explain how I add a home tab please? Do I have to edit the functions.php? Or what do I have to edit in the child-theme?
Ah.. and while I’m at it… can I also change the font colour of an active tab so that it has another colour then the inactive or hover tabs? Cause I can’t figure that out either.

Any tip or solution would be greatly appreciated! =)
