Structured data for variations bug cause price mismatch in Google merchant cente

Hello,

I check the post at

and it seems quite an older bug.

and also used the plugin by the same author at https://github.com/leewillis77/wc-structured-data-option-3

If I understand correctly you’re reporting that Google Merchant Centre doesn’t recognize the correct amount for regular and sale price of variations.

For this specific product whose price range is USD $42.46 – USD $43.48 the markup looks correct:

How does this appear in the Google Merchant Centre? If there’s a mismatch it looks like something to be fixed on the plugin you’re using to send the feed to Google and not on WooCommerce core itself.

Can you share with us your site’s system status so we can have a look at your setup? You can find it via WooCommerce > Status. Select “Get system report” and then “Copy for support”. Once you’ve done that, paste it here in your response.

Yes, but not exactly, Google Merchant Centre doesn’t recognize the correct amount for regular and sale price of a specific variation item.

The regular price and sale price should not be 43.48 and 42.46 US dollars in your screenshot, but they are values of the sale price of the parent variable product, please check the screenshot to understand what I mean:

All of the Structured data should show a specific variation, but not the parent variable product, just like descriptions in your GitHub official post at https://github.com/woocommerce/woocommerce/issues/16006

Thank you for all the additional details and for sharing with us your system status.

The regular price and sale price should not be 43.48 and 42.46 US dollars

The price range USD $42.46 - USD $43.48 is meant to display the variations sale price only. WooCommerce by default doesn’t include the regular price there.

This is likely the reason for the mismatch between the feed and Google Merchant Centre info.

You could display along with the sale price also the regular price range so that the lower and higher prices for regular price and sale price will be both displayed on the product page and Google Merchant Centre.

Changing this would require the addition of some custom code. There is an article discussing how to do it, along with a code snippet, available here:

Thanks for your reply.

I tried that code snippet, and it works but does not fix the issue because it does not change the structured data.

Frankly, I think this is TOP issue in Woocommerce because the prices of variation are usually different based on different material, calor, size, patterns,etc.

Here are what I know after several days study:

1# Again, The bug was found very early at 2017, please refer to https://github.com/woocommerce/woocommerce/issues/16006

2# There was a method to fix by a plugin, but it does not with the latest Woocommerce version, please check the post at https://github.com/leewillis77/wc-structured-data-option-3/issues/2

3# According to the above post, the author move the function into a feed generate plugin at https://woocommerce.com/products/google-product-feed/, but I noted it will actually do not work if there is any SEO plugin is working like Rankmath, Yoast SEO, All in One SEO, etc, because these SEO plugins will take over the schema generating and output structured data, but no one SEO plugin can handle this issue.

At last, no one is willing to fix this issue.

Frankly, I just can not imagine how Woocommerce officially allows this issue exit for so long time, and make so many site owners confused and bothered with the issue.

Is it possible to fix it by Woocommerce officially?

As Mirko has already stated above, and also as the reply on this thread states, this is not something that can be corrected at the level of core WooCommerce. Please get in touch with the support team(s) of the plugin(s) involved.

In the system report I noticed that the site is not using the latest updated versions of WooCommerce as well as WordPress. Our recommendation is to update those at your earliest opportunity, and also update the database.
