does this have to have wordpress.something

i am new to this and have only really discovered this today. i am trying to create a blog for my portfolio and came across this. when i had a look around on similair sites they all have something like:

http://midwestbmx.net/wordpress/ or wordpress.something.

i was wondering as my website will be http://www.asdesigns.co.uk could the address be http://www.asdesigns.co.uk/blog and have wordpress on that one page?

im pretty sure this is a very very stupid question but it would be a real help if someone could help
