New user here – looking for some advise – If I set up a group that shows 1 ad at a time – #Ad1 – weight 10 exp date 30 April; #Ad2 – weight 10 exp date 30 May; #Ad3 – weight 10 exp date 30 June; #Ad4 Fallback Ad – 1/10 no conditions no exp date. This should work correct so that as each ad expires the next add takes its place until they hit Ad fallback?

I am assuming the weight wouldn’t matter either as long as they all are equal as the exp date is dictating…?

any advise would be great thanks

  • Hi tomjutla,

    Thanks for reaching out.

You can find in this tutorial a detailed explanation about ad groups and ad weights.

In a few words: in the random group mode, the ad weights determine the chance of an ad getting shown. In the ordered group mode, the ad weights define the queue in that the plugin will show the first (and often only ad). Equal ad weights in the ordered group mode behave like random ads.

To realize a setup as you describe, I suggest:

    1. switching to the ordered group mode
    2. setting ad weight 10 for #Ad1
    2. setting ad weight 9 for #Ad2
    3. setting ad weight 8 for #Ad3
    4. setting ad weight 1 for the fallback ad.

Advanced Ads will always try to serve the ad with the highest ad weight (#Ad1) in this configuration. If this is not available, the queue jumps to the following ad.

    Best regards,
    Joachim
