• I’m just getting my wordpress site started, using the Sunset theme.
I’m trying to upload images, but I keep getting this error message:

“monkey002.jpg” has failed to upload due to an error
Unable to create directory /home/ethic/public_html/blog/wp-content/uploads/2010/06. Is its parent directory writable by the server?

I even went into my CPanel and created the directory myself, and tried putting the images I wanted in that folder, but it’s not working.

    Please help!!
    thanks!

  • Make sure to make the directory writable and full permission given on your folder in the host’s user panel etc.

Hmmm… I changed the permissions for the blog, plus public_html and “ethic” to 7,7,7 (making it writable by the world). But I’m still getting the same error message. I don’t see anything that fits the problem in the support link. Any other ideas?
    Thanks for the quick reply!!

Change the permissions on the wp-content directory to 766. If you still have problems, try 767 or 777. Once your uploads are working, change the permissions on wp-content back to 755 again and check that everything still works OK.

I tried all of those combos, but no luck. My server host has no idea – says that once the permissions are set, it should load. The permissions are definitely set at 777 now. Any other ideas? Thank you!
