    Unfortunately I can’t tell you when. I’ve just been checking debug logs lately as there seem to be a variety of issues. We have a staging site and we’ve been trying to narrow things down and this one popped up.

    Hi @kbdiverservices, thanks for letting me know!

    Going on previous cases of this error message cropping up, it appears to be an issue around writing data to our log files. This can be caused by corrupted files but has also been seen when the hosting environment has run out of allowed space or the file is not available/permitted to be written to.

    To see if it’s the former, in your FTP or hosting file manager, navigate to your wp-content/wflogs folder. You should be able to delete the wflogs folder or its contents entirely and Wordfence should try to repopulate it within 30 minutes.

    It’s also worth checking that permissions on your WordPress site’s directories are 755, and that the process owner is www-data if appropriate for your setup.

    If you have persistent problems with this file/folder, you can bypass it entirely by setting Wordfence to write to the MySQLi storage engine instead of a file if you prefer: https://www.wordfence.com/help/firewall/mysqli-storage-engine/

    None of the latter is the case.

    Should I delete and reinstall?

    Also, I recently did your firewall optimization. Does this add a new wp-settings.php file? It seems I have one now and there are flags set that conflict with wp-config. I also see a logging flag set using @ini in wp-config that wasn’t there before.

    Hi @kbdiverservices, thanks for getting back to me.

    Wordfence doesn’t alter your wp-settings.php file. I would just expect a code block to have been added to .htaccess and a auto_prepend_file directive in there or .user.ini if your server configuration supports it.

    I think before a reinstall is attempted, it would be worth looking at your diagnostics report (instructions in my initial response) to see if there are any clear configuration or permissions issues that would still be present after a reinstall and can be fixed before taking that step.
