‘Update failed’ notification won’t go away

I had some problems with updating plugins on my site recently, and when using the Upgrade tool to update four plugins at once, there was a problem during the install. I have fixed the problem, and there are no more updates to be made, yet the notification in the yellow bar remains at the top of every page.

“An automated WordPress update has failed to complete – please attempt the update again now.”

How can I get rid of this?
