Hey @bill56789
It’s possible that you’re looking at the wrong email address or Your email server is not sending emails.
There are other ways to reset your admin password. Try using a comfortable method from here https://wordpress.org/support/article/resetting-your-password/
Best
Vijay
Hi Vijay, thanks for your contribution, however most of the alternatives on that link you gave me require me to be logged in first, which is the whole problem. The later ideas involve some technical language that I don’t understand:
– I have no idea what a MySQL command line is.
– I don’t know what FTP is
– I don’t know what WP CLI is, or how to ‘move into the /wordpress directory’
– even if I understood how to use the Emergency Password Reset Script I would be cautious about using it, since it appears that I don’t know the email address linked to the site.
Can anyone explain in layperson’s terms what I need to do?
Emergency Password Reset Script requires knowledge of FTP and you should know your username.
I recommend, asking your hosting support team to help get your access to the website.
Best,
Vijay
Can your company tell me what email address you hold for me? Since I’m not receiving emails that WordPress says it is sending me, it seems that they’re going to the wrong email address. How can I find out what email address you have for me on your files?
WordPress is software that you have installed on your server to create your website. WordPress doesn’t host your website. all the site databases and files are on your server.
You can ask your hosting to provide support if they can or you can hire a developer to assist you as you don’t have the technical knowledge and you’re not able to go through any method that is suggested in the article.
It’s ok, I have now resolved this issue with help from my host company.
