I don’t know exactly what changes were made to the settings, but suddenly no admin users can log in to wordpress.

It just doesn’t redirect – and I have to remove wordfence via FTP to get to the dashboard.

I believe this started happening after the client attempted 2-factor authentication.

Can anyone tell me what to turn ON or OFF, to get the admin logins functioning with wordfence active?

Or at the very least, how do I get wordfence settings back to default?

Hi @webworks, thanks for getting in touch!

When you remove Wordfence via FTP, 2FA should then ready to be reactivated (if you wish to.) I would be interested in whether a plugin or theme update actually caused the original issue so that the client attempting 2FA was blocked from logging in by a Javascript conflict where they weren’t presented with the prompt.

If you wish to return Wordfence to a totally default state, you can select Wordfence > Login Security > Settings > Delete Login Security tables and data on deactivation and Wordfence > All Options > General Wordfence Options > Delete Wordfence tables and data on deactivation. After this, deactivate and re-activate Wordfence from the Installed Plugins page in WordPress.

If problems persist after clearing data, you may need to try Wordfence as the only active plugin with a default theme and reenable your plugins and usual theme one-by-one to see when problems start reoccurring.

    Thanks,

    Peter.
