Which payment method are you using to pay for orders? Usually, orders are in pending status when the payment needs to be manually confirmed for payment methods such as BACS (bank transfer) or cheque. You can read more on troubleshooting order statuses in relation to Payment Gateways here:

If the issue persists, share the following so we can have a closer look:
- System Status: You can find it via WooCommerce > Status. Select “Get system report” and then “Copy for support”. Once you’ve done that, paste it here in your response.
- Fatal Error Log: Share a copy of any fatal error log found under WooCommerce > Status > Logs (if available).

By default, WooCommerce does not send an email for an order with pending status.
As a first step please reach out to the Payment gateway
Hotpay, some payment platforms need a timeframe to confirm that the payment is clear.Let us know how it goes.
Yes, the problem is new, I haven’t had one before. When it comes to e-mail, I mean that even if I manually change it to during the implementation of woocommerce, it does not send an e-mail with a purchase message to the customer as it always was.

Sorry to hear about this. Have you tried the following actions?
- Disable the cache
- Temporarily switch your theme to Storefront
- Disable all plugins except for WooCommerce and Hotpay
- Repeat the action that is causing the problem, for example you can create a test order
