I just checked in my Opera, Brave, Chrome, Firefox, Edge & PaleMoon browsers. I always got the same resolution of the images.
What I would check:
– Has your theme/CSS gotten an update recently? Maybe something went wrong there.
– Do you run a caching plugin? Maybe empty the cache.
– Do you run some sort of (image) optimization plugin? Maybe check the settings there.
– Check also if the images aren’t displayed as thumbnails via the Gutenberg editor.
On one of my schoolsites, I noticed that some text shrunk in size, since I used a block that gotten an update in 5.9 and now it uses tables in the background. Removing the side columns did the trick. Maybe that helps?

I have W3 Total Cache plugin.
I emptied cache and it seems that it help.
I hope that it will stay that way.
Anyways, thank you very much for your support.
Have a nice day!
Maybe open a topic @inkmethod on the support section of that plugin. Maybe you just find an unknown bug. 😉
And if that’s the case, you’ll save yourselves headaches down the road to not have to remember to empty the cache every so often. 😉

Yeah, I did that.
The problem persisted at the end. Pictures went back to silly size, again.
Im still without a solution to this stupid issue.
Fingers crossed then. I hope they find a solution soon.
