Front page display has vanished???

I’m new to wordpress so I’m learning thru a text book. I’m on a section about changing the homepage. It asked me to go to the “Reading Settings” and then use the “Front page displays” drop down to change the home page to a “page” I’v created.

When I go to “Reading settings” the “Front page display” has vanished???

I’v changed to several other themes and it has’nt fixed it. I’v also deactivated the pluggins and that did’nt work either?

I’m trying to use WordPress to set up websites so this is pretty importent, please help!
