    Hello!

I’ve installed this plugin and I’m using it in my posts. Each post has 7-10 headings. Now the problem is that I see in Google Search Console and Google Analytics that apparently the plugin created new URLs for each heading!

    For example:
    mydomain.com/mypostname
    mydomain.com/mypostname/#1firstheading
    mydomain.com/mypostname/#2secondheading
    mydomain.com/mypostname/#3thirdheading

Does anyone know if there’s any advantage to this for SEO? I honestly don’t see it. How can I disable this?

    Thanks in advance 🙂

These are in-page links (anchors) that are a web standard and how all TOC plugins work. The TOC is generated, and add a link to each heading in the post that the TOC will link.

If you do not wish to have in-page links (anchors) generated, the only option is to deactivate the ezTOC plugin.

As for the SEO benefit, in-page links, a web search engine may decide to list those as part of the search results on popular pages on your site.

Thank you very much for your explanation Steven. That makes sense! I was afraid it would create too many additional links that would mess up with my SEO, because my site’s new pages aren’t getting indexed anymore since a few months I’m trying to find out why.
