Hi. When we view this page on iOS devices, often there are 1-2 black pages. It’s as if the pages don’t load, but then no amount of reloading gets them to work. We tried toggling the “partial loading” settings but that didn’t resolve the issue.

Hopefully we can find some help here. Thank you!

    Chris

    Hi,

    Thanks for your feedback.
We will look into this issue and try recreating the issue.

Can you please also provide details on the phone model, IOS version and browser you have tried with. Also did it not occur in android devices?

If we are able to recreate and face the issue ourswlfves it will be faster to study and resolve the issue.

    Best Regards,

Thanks. It’s an iPhone 11, two different ones. And both used Safari. The person who did not have that issue was on an android phone. Thanks.

    Hi,

Just to make sure the issue is not due to data loss. Since your site is loading relatively slow. Most times we could not complete loading. Please test the flipbook at:
    https://dearpdf.com/hpp_ep_booklet_png300/?viewer-type=flipbook&is-3d=true

Also we noticed, the PDF is scanned PDF with 300 DPI scanning which is not required in Web viewing. We recommend creating a web version that will be much smaller PDF in 2-3MB size. We tried making one:

Hi. It doesn’t appear to be size related at all. I see similar black screens in the links you shared. See here: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1-Do4fszzaYolDGgmLD6jIDe8udnUZ82k

    Hi,

Thanks for your feedback. We are trying to reproduce the issue, but no luck so far.
We have been testing on iPhone 11, SE using safari browser.

Is it working properly in other browsers on the same phone?

Thank. I am seeing black pages in Chrome on iPhone as well. My device just updated.

I misspoke about my phone version. Sorry. I am on iPhone 12, running iOS 15.2.1.

I think the issue might be related to how the code resizes the PDF. I did a test just now where I was in the browser and saw a couple black screens, but then I rotated my device to be landscape and the pages appeared. Maybe that’ll be something that helpful.

    Hi,

Normally the black page happens when there is rendering issue. When resize happens new size is requested and render happens again and it can be successful in next attempt.

The Rendering issue can happen due to various factors.
Low memory, slower response time while processing the image data, data loss or data delays.

Normally if we could create the issue in our environment, we can stress the issue with other various environment variable and pin point the cause.

Possibility 1: Can you try setting the single page mode to Booklet mode. It’s currently in Default mode and display both pages in flipbook.
Possibility 2: Also in landscape mode the page size is smaller so less memory and CPU is required to create the render, _ another possibility.
Possibility 3: Render timeout before data is available and thus a blank(blck0 canvas is rendered. This is confirmed if the black screen happens only one per page load, not again and again.

Other possibility is rendering issue from PDF library. Which you cannot test it right away with DearPDF
You can try our another plugin https://wordpress.org/plugins/3d-flipbook-dflip-lite/ to see if the issue is related to library.

We would love to test and solve this issue. But we are able to create in a environment that we can troubleshoot on.

    Hi,

This issue is related to IOS browser. That issue occurs only in Safari 15.1 – 15.3 browsers, and is not found in IOS 15.4 beta. We are waiting for the IOS 15.4 public release this month.

If it doesn’t solve with IOS update, feel free to re-open the issue.

    Best Regards,
    DearHive
