Hi, cookiejarbakery, I’m another Elementor user.
When you say, you ‘can’t edit the content that I created with WordPress editor on the pages,’ what happens when you attempt to edit the content?
Hi Ian,
It just won’t let me. When I hover over the parts that I want to edit, there is no option to edit. Nothing happens when I click on it. Usually your content is divided in blocks, and you can edit each box. I can not. There is no box for me to select and edit. I can not change the content that I created with WordPress editor. I think it is because I somehow assigned that content to WordPress, so it won’t let me edit it with Elementor. I don’t know how to change this.
Hi.
Can you please send us your site’s URL, along with a screenshot where the issue can be seen?
Thanks
Hi,
Thank you for your message. My website is set on a ”coming soon” landing page and I’ve got it hosted with a different hosting provider so I’m not sure if you can see anything there. I can send you a screenshot of the issue though. Could you tell me how I can send you the pic on here please?
Kind regards
Hi,
Here are some pics of the issue:
https://ibb.co/JsjbtgC
https://ibb.co/3BVxPny
https://ibb.co/8KQqRr1
You can see in the pics that no matter where I click or place my cursor, there is no option to edit it with Elementor. No box appears, nothing happens. The content that you see on the screen is content that I created with WordPress editor, which I can not edit with Elementor, apparently. I can, however, add new content to this page with Elementor. I just can’t edit the old content on this page with Elementor.
Hi, thanks for the screenshots
Please try these methods and tell us if they helped:
Regenerate the CSS via Elementor > Tools > Regenerate CSS on your WordPress Dashboard.
Go to Elementor > Settings on your WordPress dashboard, then Click the Advanced tab and then switch the CSS print method to Internal embedding.
Clear all cache: your browser’s cache, other plugins’ cache, server cache (if possible).
To rule out the possibility of a plugin or theme conflict, please deactivate all your plugins (besides Elementor) and see if it helps. If it solves the issue, reactivate them one by one to find the culprit.
If it didn’t help, switch your theme (temporarily) to a default WordPress theme and see if it makes any difference.
Switch the CSS print method back after following these steps, regardless if it helped or not.
Hope those steps will help you, they go over the most common culprits for issues like yours.
Hi,
Thank you for your suggestions. I tried all of them but it still didn’t let me edit the content. When I switched to a different theme I lost the layout that I was going for. And still I could not edit the content that was left on the page after the switch.
Kind regards.
Hi,
please replicate the issue and send me right after a screenshots of the JS concole.
Hi Liana, what do you mean? I have already posted the screenshots in the comments?
Of which theme files do you want to see the screenshots of?

Which category do you want the screenshot of?
Hi,
Please go to your WordPress Dashboard, hover over the Elementor tab > Settings > Advanced.
Make sure the “Enable Unfiltered File Uploads” setting is, in fact, enabled.
If not, change to “enable” and save.
When you are done, check the Templates again and let me know if the issue is solved.
Hi Talmo,
Thank you for your suggestion. I enabled the Enable Unfiltered File Uploads option but the issue still existed. It didn’t make a difference unfortunately.
Kind regards
There are some things that I have tried out and wanted to share these findings with you. I think it is something in the Astra customizer plugin that is blocking me from editing with Elementor. If I choose ”Elementor canvas” it will give me a blank page and erase the content that I had created with Astra/Wordpress editor, but it does allow me to edit whatever I want. And when I choose ”Elementor full width” my old content appears again and I can not edit it with Elementor.
Hi,
When choosing elementor canvas it is blocking everything from the theme and gives you a clean page to create.
The full width and theme are connected to your theme, if you used the theme to create your website or large portions of it, you will not be able to change them in the editor.
The Astra theme is known for us for disabling editing through our editor.
My apologies for the inconvenience.
