    Hello there,

I have used wordfence free version, on all my sites for some time so far. It works perfectly on every site but one.I ususally do the same set up for every site but I don’t know why on this partilcular one, when the plug in is active, everytime I try to log in it blocks me (it happens with every admin) due to “many attempts to log in”.
At the moment I have it disabled. I had to change the name of the plug in file on my server.

Is there any way you could help me solve it?

Thanks for your work so far and any help you can give me.

    Hi @crestanads

When you said, “…everytime I try to log in it blocks me (it happens with every admin) due to “many attempts to log in”.”

Where are you seeing the notification that Wordfence is blocking you for too many failed login attempts?

I am attaching the image i get on the browser (chrome, but I get on every browser).

    Hi @crestanads

That block page is for breaking one of the brute force login attack protection rules:

    https://www.wordfence.com/help/firewall/brute-force/

If it is happening for all admins after one login attempt then that sounds like Wordfence is not detecting IP addresses correctly. If Wordfence detects a hacker and everyone else as coming from the same IP address then this problem can arise.

To check the IP detection I would like to have a look at your Wordfence diagnostics report. Please go to the top of the “Diagnostics” tab on the Wordfence “Tools” page. There will be a “SEND REPORT BY EMAIL” button to send the diagnostics report. Enter wftest [at] wordfence [dot] com as the email and crestanads as the forum username please.

Once you have emailed me the diagnostics report can you reply here to let me know that it has been sent. This is important in the unlikely event that your installation of WordPress is having an issue with sending mail.

    Hi @crestanads

    Thank you for the update.

I see that Wordfence is not detecting IP addresses correctly.

You can find your correct IP address below (note that this detection is not 100% accurate on cellular phone network connections):

    https://whatismyipaddress.com/

In the How does Wordfence get IPs subsection of the General Wordfence Options section on the All Options page you will need to set and save the option Use the X-Real-IP HTTP header. Only use if you have a front-end proxy or spoofing may result.

Remember to press the SAVE CHANGES button.

You should then see your IP address on the line Your IP with this setting.
