Posting new content from existing articles

    Newbie here.

    I come across many good articles on my blog topic, is it common practice to use some technique for adding the content of that article to my blog? I don’t have any problem giving credit to the originating site. I see this happening all the time on sites like Gizmodo.com, where there is a summary of the article and a link.

    Is that how any of you get new content? I have a lot to learn in this area and I was just hoping for a little advice.

    Most of us “get new content” by writing new content. Be mindful of where you’re taking the article from. If the source is not published under a GPL, GFDL, or similar license, republishing the content is considered stealing (even if you give credit) and punishable under the fullest extent of the law.

    I often get reprint permission requests and in most cases I permit requiring a byline with exact text I give them, URL to link back to my site, and the expiration date of the permit.
