Unable to set Woocommerce shop to front page

I am currently trying to edit our WordPress website, designed previously by an external webdesigner, who used a theme called “Create” together with Woocommerce to run our webshop etc.

The issue that we are having right now is, that said designer set the webshop to be a page under our overall menu (in header) while our front page is containing less than essential information at this point.

As such, I have been trying to find a way to swap those two pages so that our webshop will be our front page instead of the current front page and vice versa.

I have tried to scour the web and forums for an answer to the above and stumbled upon several solution of which none so far have worked.

One is the following documentation from Woocommerce where the shortcode [products] tag is supposed to be applied to the current webshop in order to commit that change. This however isn’t working as intended. The webshop page instead displays an unformatted list of our webshop products above the current webshop products (formatted in the correct way as usual) plus the shortcode sandwiched as an h1 header in between those two parts.

I tried these options but also in this case, they aren’t committed nor working as intended.

Could anyone help or at least, point me in the right direction?

I am wondering if it would be required to delete and create these pages again in order to make those changes but am unsure as to whether or not we will end up having more issues than now.

Hello,

I have been trying to find a way to swap those two pages so that our webshop will be our front page instead of the current front page and vice versa.

This should be able to set your shop page as front page. You don’t need to use a shortcode for your Shop page.

If it’s not working properly, could you share screenshots of the following pages?

– Settings > Reading
– WooCommerce > Settings > Products > General

Additionally, could you please share a copy of your site’s System Status? You can find it via WooCommerce > Status. Select “Get system report” and then “Copy for support”. Once you’ve done that, paste it here in your response.

First of all, the post you linked to is the exact same post I linked to as well in my initial message. I thought, you had seen that. As mentioned earlier, this doesn’t work. None of the two options do.

Secondly, I am turning back here with the information, that you requested. Since I am not in the position to post sensitive information in the topics you requested, I have edited out a few things. Note, that the report and screenshots are in Danish since we run a Danish website. If you have any doubt or need help with the translation, let me know.

Finally, I called the two pages that we need to swap for “Front page” and “Shop” in regards to either one in the screenshots to make it a bit easier for you.

Thanks for sharing the screenshots and the system status report.

The screenshot of the reading settings is showing that the ‘Front’ page is set as the static page: https://imgbb.com/RHrh8g7 . The ‘shop’ page should be chosen instead.

I am a bit baffled though as I thought, I had tried that setting previously without any success. But it turns out that it actually changes the frontpage to be the shop page now.

Splendid! Thanks so much for helping and pointing me in the right direction. A big thanks goes out to @maykato as well for her help.

May I ask you about another related issue that we are having with the webshop title or do I have to start a new thread? The issue is, that we’d like to make the page title (which is visible at the moment for our shop) invisible.

I stumbled upon some solutions such as a couple of plugins.

One is this plugin which uses php instead of javascript (to avoid flickering), yet retains the visibility of the header for search engines etc. all while hiding it on the page itself. It doesn’t seem to be an official wordpress plugin but has great reviews. Jottis malwarescan neither returns any virus or malware, so seems legit to install. What do you reckon?

Then there is this official wordpress plugin, called “Title Remover”.

However, wordpress reports that this plugin hasn’t been tested with our present (and the latest) WordPress version. It seems to have an overall positive rating but some of the 1-star reviews – although older – state that it doesn’t work or even worse, crash the site. We are willing to take that risk and make some backups before we go ahead with those solutions but wanted to have your input and take on the above.
