I’m trying to use Facebook for WooCommerce, but I’m running into an issue getting it connected. I tried it with one account, but it ended up getting halfway through the process and then breaking. I now need to connect it to a different account, but it is forcing me to have Admin permissions for the old business manager. Here is the error I get when I try to connect Facebook and WooCommerce using my new account:

    Admin Permission Required
You don’t have permission to edit these settings. Reach out to the admin of ‘xxxxxxxxxxxx Business Manager’ to gain access.

I have removed the old business integration as per the instructions here: https://www.facebook.com/help/405094243235242

I also deleted the Facebook for Woocommerce plugin and reinstalled, but it still seems to be linked to the old business manager.

I’ve been tempted to delete the old business manager completely, but I’m a little concerned I might get locked out completely if I do that.

    Any help would be appreciated!

  • It sounds like you are just an admin and not the owner of the Facebook assets you are trying to connect to.

First, I recommended you to navigate to the Facebook Business Settings – Pages area, select the Page in question, go to the People tab, and ensure your name is listed there with the Manage Page toggle enabled.

You can check if the steps in this article help gain the correct access: https://www.facebook.com/business/help/183277585892925?id=420299598837059

When connecting your site to Facebook via Facebook for WooCommerce, the profile used to log in has to be the owner of the assets, not just admins. We’ve seen errors similar to the one you are getting displayed when the merchants don’t own the page or catalog or pixel, as it’s actually owned by someone else/another business.

If you’re absolutely sure you have the correct permissions on the account you’re using to connect, we can see if resetting your business ID helps. To do so, please:

    1. Deactivate the Facebook for WooCommerce plugin and delete it.
    2. Go to yoursite.com/wp-admin/options.php (please change yoursite.com to your site’s URL)
    3. Search for wc_facebook_external_business_id, update the field to include only ASCII characters and save. Best practice: use your store name plus a 13-digit random string, e.g., store-name-dfsdc3lck9k6q
    4. In Facebook, go to Settings & Privacy > Settings > Business Integrations. Click on the checkbox next to “WooCommerce Integration” and click on the blue “Remove” button
    5. Re-install the Facebook for WooCommerce plugin, and go through the setup process again`
