• Will this work with my members website?

I use S2Member plugin for my subscription members website. I’m not a pro developer and I’d like to keep it simple with sign-up and payment still via the website, but to offer members the option to download an app.

I’d like members to be able to use their existing member account from the website to log in to the app and access the site content. (So it also needs to NOT be accessible if people don’t have member account with the website.)

It’s quite a large wordpress site with Avada theme, mostly standard content pages with vimeo videos embedded.

Can wpmobile do this and is it easy to set up for a non-developer?

    Thanks 🙂

    Hey

Technically it will work but Google/Apple will request you to use the in app purchase system (and they will take 30% of the amount as fee) because they do not allow you to sell an app subscription without the in app purchase system that is not available on the wpmobile app : (

    Thanks @amauric

So, is it not possible for me to make the app available to people who are already members of my website?

Could I maybe list the app as free on the google/play store but only people who already have a membership of the website could actually log in?

I just want members of the website to have the option of accessing the site content via an app, I don’t want to sell new memberships in the app stores, just make it available to download from there.

It’s possible, you can test the render with the demo app https://wpmobile.app/doc/test/ but it will be rejected by the store.

Unfortunately if the app show paid content (even if the user pay on the website), they force the use of the in app purchase system.

    Ah that’s a shame.

I tried the demo with your plug-in and the app looks great – love how simple it is to set up.

But I can’t think of how to integrate it for existing subscribers. Do you know if the app stores allow you to offer single-use discount codes?

It would need to be a different discount code for each member which could only be used once. Then I could give my existing website members a code to get the app really cheap and new app-only members could join through the stores.

Not sure if that’s possible though?

Really appreciate the help @amauric – thanks so much!

You plan to sell the app on the store and remove the subscription?
It can work but I dont think there is a way to discount the app.

One thing you can do is to publish the app as a free app (or cheap price), notify your customers and later raise the app price.

I’d just like people who already pay for the website subscription to get the app for free, or for a very small amount with a discount code.

Starting free/cheap on the app stores and later raising the price could be a solution – but I guess anyone could access that, not just my website subscribers.

I’ll have a think about that option. Thanks again @amauric 🙂

I came across what appears to be a subscription website with an app version for members – just like what I want to create.

Here it is on the Play store: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.lesmillsondemand&hl=en_GB&gl=US

It looks like everyone can download the app for free in the Play store and but only website subscribers can access the content, using their website log-in details.

So would it be possible for me to do the same? Could I make the app free to download on the app stores, but to access any content people would need to log in, using subscription log in details for my website?

Would there be a fee to list on the google/app stores if I did this?

    Thanks again @amauric!

If the app is subscription based, we are back to problem number 1, apple (and now Google) will ask you to use the in app purchase system.

There is fee to publish the app (25$ one time for Google, 99$/year for Apple).
