Hi I have just loked onto my wp admin and find that all the items under the dashboard apart from ‘Profile’ and ‘Tools’ are missing. Please can you help me get the admin buttons back. Thanks

sounds like you are no longer logged in as admin – are you using 2 logins?

Yes I seem to be able to log in using this forum login and with the WP admin login. Maybe it is something to do with that

Does anyone have an email address I can use to contact WordPress to reset my password.

Since WordPress is installed on your server, you cannot “contact WordPress” to reset your password. Try one of these methods:

can you confirm also whether this a wordpress.com, or a self hosted wordpress blog?

I really am not sure about changing coding being a newbie to this

Hi Elfin – Not sure. It was set up for me by Uniweb they will be hosting it for me. The address is http://wordpress.littlewonders.no/wp-admin/. Does that answer your question.

In that case contact Uniweb to ask them why you have been locked out of the admin side.

Pretty sure you are not using wordpress.com for that blog but can’t be 100% sure.

The second half of the page macmanx set to you gives instructions for changing things via the database – do you have login details for phpmyadmin?

I got this reply from Uniweb on how to reset the password:

I’ve found this video, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3SmndwrRkxw, which shows how
the password is reset. It might seem
a little technical, but just follow it step by step. You’ll find the credentials for
your database in our control panel
(under databaser) and phpMyAdmin (refered to in the video) is available here:
    http://mysql5.uniweb.no

Before I try can anyone confirm that I need to do this. There is no easier way.

My site is a self hosted wordpress installation.

    Hi can anyone help!

I since this morning I’ve had the following help from Uniweb. They can not fix my problem and have referred me back to you guys. Please can someone help.

*Below is the message I got from Uniweb they host my website for me:
I’ve now had a look at your wordpress installation. It seems like there’s two user
accounts for logging in. Both of these
accounts have strangly lost their administrative role. I hoped there was a simple
flag in the database for giving a user
the proper rights, but no such luck..

I’ve spent some time looking at this now, but can’t figure it out. Your best chance is the community. If they can give you
some pointers as to how you can set the proper rights for the users in the mysql-database (via phpMyAdmin), that would be
    the best bet.*

I’ve tried looking at the phpMyAdmin but just don’t have the know how to to do anything. Can anyone help?????? Or do I need to start my site again UGH!!!!!!

Strangely I just answered this question for bbPress.

Check the user table – find your login, and get the id number. then go to the the usermeta table and look for that id in user_id column
You should hopefully see a meta_key of wp_capabilities

and then the meta_value will be something like:
    a:1:{s:13:"administrator";b:1;}

Is that or anything similar there?

Not sure its even possible to manually change a password any more.

Thanks for the advise. I’ll try and sort this out later and let you know how I get on.
