    Hello,

In my meta description, I write “Construction pas à pas de bâtiments en carton : le poste d’aiguillage MKB Modelle et la sous-station électrique Régions & Compagnies.”

Unfortunatly, Google don’t use it and write in its result “Le montage des murs de la sous-station électrique R&C — poste d’aiguillage et sous station électrique. Aujourd’hui, le choix des bâtiments et …” = my page’s content…

I have setup the Hn tag too and Google don’t use it again…

In the Google Search Console, everything is ok for this page.

Why ? Can you help me ?

    Thanks in advance

    Hello Marquis,

Thanks for reaching out regarding your meta description.

I viewed the page source of https://www.rmf-magazine.com/2020/10/18/construire-en-carton-vos-batiments-ferroviaires-poste-daiguillage-et-sous-station-electrique/ and the meta description being outputted by the Yoast SEO plugin is the same as what you desire:

<meta name=”description” content=”Construction pas à pas de bâtiments en carton : le poste d’aiguillage MKB Modelle et la sous-station électrique Régions & Compagnies.” />

Also, when we performed a search, this is the same meta description in search results. See image. Can you share a screenshot of what you see at your end? You can use any image-sharing service like https://pasteboard.co/, https://snag.gy/, https://imgur.com/, https://snipboard.io/, or even upload the screenshot to your own website. Once you upload it to an image sharing service, please share the link to the image here.

OK there are 2 cases :
    – when I search with fault in my keyword –> bad description in the result
    – when I search witout fault in my keyword –> good description = meta description

Other example with this page : https://www.rmf-magazine.com/2011/06/01/comment-faire-un-quai-voyageurs-ancien-avec-passage-plancheie/

I search “Comment faire un quai voyageurs” and the result is not the page’s meta description.

    Here the screenshoots : https://we.tl/t-AU5UC4zHFs

    Thanks for your help 🙂

For https://www.rmf-magazine.com/2011/06/01/comment-faire-un-quai-voyageurs-ancien-avec-passage-plancheie/, the meta description in the page source is:

<meta name=”description” content=”Dans le commerces, vous pouvez trouver des éléments en matière plastique mais ils ne sont pas à la bonne taille, pas à la bonne géométrie ou vous avez envie de les faire vous-même. En suivant nos conseils ce désir deviendra une réalité gratifiante.” />

Does this match what you have entered in the Yoast SEO plugin as the meta description for that page?

We look forward to hearing from you.

For the description, I have the Extract variable :

    Thanks for your reply.

Regarding your issue, we checked on the page and confirmed that Yoast is outputting the following for the title and meta description (see image here):

<title>Construire en carton vos bâtiments ferroviaires : poste d'aiguillage et sous station électrique - Rail Miniature Flash - Magazine</title>
<meta name="description" content="Construction pas à pas de bâtiments en carton : le poste d’aiguillage MKB Modelle et la sous-station électrique Régions & Compagnies." />

However, we do see that this is not the title and meta description that Google is indexing in a search here.

Whereas Google typically uses the title and meta description from the page’s metadata for indexing, this is not always the case. Google will sometimes modify or ignore the title and meta description when it sees fit, as well as sometimes adding the brand or site name to the end of your title.

This behavior is not due to the plugin not functioning as expected, but rather is due to Google using another value for the title and meta description that it indexes, as it’s algorithm has concluded that there is a better version to index. We have additional information on this topic available at the following links: Google Shows Different Titles For My Site and Google Shows The Wrong Meta Description For My Site.

If Google is ignoring the title or meta description you have created for a page and creating it’s own based off the page’s content, we would recommend creating new ones that reflect the page’s content. Please refer to the aforementioned articles as they include recommendations for crafting a page title which will help increase the likelihood that Google will use the title and meta description that you specified, instead of it’s modified version.

Additionally, we have a guide on how to write clean and meaningful meta description for your pages and posts by following the steps it outlines: How To Create The Right Meta Description
