• I’m helping a friend update their nonprofit site after it being untouched for the last three years. I’m no techie but wanted to try to get them current.

I updated WP and saw that I needed to add jQuery Migrate and did so. So I see the errors on the page which all link to the theme’s gdlr-script.js. file. LayerSlider seems to be culprit but I can’t update it. A link to their page says, since it was a bonus item with my theme, I need to purchase.

Can I go into ftp and just update the gdlr-script.js file from the updated theme I just downloaded or do I need to totally update the theme? and purchase/update LayerSlider?

    Thanks.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • Here’s your theme’s changelog: https://support.goodlayers.com/document/changelog-charityhub/

You’re running version 1.31 released in 2018. Since then, there have been several updates to the theme, with the latest one being 1.4.5 released a few weeks ago.

Update the entire theme. Also, update all the “bonus” plugins that came with the theme.

    and purchase/update LayerSlider?

Purchasing the plugin directly from the plugin’s developer will allow you to independently update the plugin to the latest version, instead of depending on the theme’s developer for updates.

But, generally, the latest versions of all bundled “bonus” plugins should come with the latest version of the theme (ie part of the zip file you download)… or you may be able to download these bundled plugins from the theme developer’s customer portal.

If the plugin was not included in the theme file you downloaded, I’ll suggest you contact the theme’s vendor for the latest versions of the plugins they originally bundled with their theme.

    Good luck!
