Hello @danpw,
Thanks for your message.
How many records do you have in wp_posts and wp_postmeta in your database?
Best,

Hey @mateuszgbiorczyk, I must’ve missed the email when you replied here, I apologize for that.
To answer your question, there are 2224 rows in the wp_2_posts table, and 35040 rows in the wp_2_postmeta table.
It’s only one subsite within a multisite that this issue occurs on, and the other subsite that works fine has 5 times the number of records in the posts and postmeta tables.
I just tried updating the plugin again and version 4.0.0 still causes this issue.
Any help would be appreciated. For now I’ve downgraded the plugin again.
Thanks.
@danpw So, for a website with more records, the search works fine? Are the plugin settings the same on both websites? Are these websites on the same server?

Hey @mateuszgbiorczyk,
I’m really sorry about the delay.
Yes, the site that the search times out on has significantly fewer posts than the site that the search works fine for.
Yes, the sites are on the same server – it’s 2 sites on the same WordPress multisite.
There are a couple of differences in the plugin settings between the sites:
- The problematic site has “Lite Mode” enabled.
- The problematic site has the “Search for whole phrases instead of each single word of phrase” feature enabled.
Let me know if there’s any other information I can provide.
Thanks!
@danpw Try to download the previous version of the plugin:
https://downloads.wordpress.org/plugin/acf-better-search.3.8.1.zip
Does everything work on this version?

Thanks for getting back to me so quickly.
As soon as we noticed the issue we had reverted back to plugin version 3.8.1.
Everything works as expected in that version, and the search doesn’t time out.

Hey @mateuszgbiorczyk,
I hope you’re having a great week. Have you had a chance to look into this further?
Many thanks!
@danpw I will try to help you, but I need some extra things from you:
1. The phrase you enter in the search bar.
2. ID of post you want to find.
3. Database dump (only table wp_posts and wp_postmeta tables). Please delete private data from it, if any.
4. Screenshot of the plugin settings.
Best,
Mateusz

Hi @mateuszgbiorczyk, I’d rather not post a database dump here. Is there another way I could get you this information?
