I appreciate there have been some questions and answers here about the piano black header, but I am real novice and therefore still stuck.

I am planning on using the piano black wp theme cuz I think it looks elegant.

I have created a jpg header that is the exact size of the default paino black header.

First what should I name it? Would “new_header.jpg” be okay?

Second where should I upload the new header to?

Third where and what should I look for in appearance in my dashboard to change the header?

Fourth what should I do to change the header?

If someone could provide me with a “piano black header change for dummies” in a step by step form I would be very appreciative.

I know this is a rather basic request. Hopefully I will know a lot more by the time I am finished this whole thing, and maybe even be able to help spme novice like me someday:)

    Cheers, Ed

  • There are thousands of WordPress themes – which means that many people won’t be familiar with your particular theme. So a link to your site where people can see the theme might result in more responses.

Thanks Esmi. As I said I am a bit new to all this. Here is a link to the theme I am planning to use. I hope someone can tell me step by step how to insert my own header on this.

Oh 1 more thing. The default banner header I am trying to replace is 959 x 159. My new header is also 959 x 159.

Well I solved my own problem. Maybe not the right way but it worked. Here is what I did.

    1. I created a header image that I wanted in exactly 959 x 159 pixel size.
    2. I called the image file “top”
    3. Saved the image file in png format in my computer.
    4. Downloaded piano black theme to my computer
    5. Opened the theme file
    6. Clicked on the img folder
    7. Found the file called “top” in the theme file and deleted it
    8. Pasted my created “top” file into img
    9. Uploaded the piano black theme to me dashboard and activated it

    Voila!!! it works great.

    Not bad for a wanna-be-geek:)

Glad to hear you managed to solve this yourself. From what I can tell, you did everything right. Today headers, tomorrow whole themes, perhaps? 🙂
