Hi there! I’ve used your outomated asset automatization fature, but it has only compressed it 16%. Will the manual asset optimization increase that number? Is there something else I can do?
    Best regards

    Hi @gullstromco21

    I hope you’re well today!

A 16% compression is quite good actually.

Please note that it’s not really only about compressing assets as much as possible but also about keeping the site still fully functional.

It also really depends on the scripts that are being compressed. For example, if your theme is already using most of its scripts in minified form (you can recognize them usually by the “.min” part in file name, like “something.min.js”) then the compression level will usually be lower.

The “manual” option will give you way more control over asset optimization letting you not only decide which assets to compress/combine but also which should e.g. be moved to footer or loaded after the page is loaded – so that can help greatly improve performance, although it may also take some additional time/work to get it fully configured (some experimenting may be required).

Whether it will give better compression or not – I can’t really tell upfront for sure. The “compression rate” is the same in both automatic and manual mode but it is possible that due to configuration of other options the some more or less scripts would be compressed. I’m afraid that’s a matter of “experimenting and testing” and it’s also very individual to each and every setups (on different sites it will usually be different).

    Kind regards,
    Adam
