• Media attachment pages that use URLs with query components in them return a 404 error when Elementor is activated.

    Here is an example: /?attachment_id=nnn

But not all media attachment pages use a query component in the URL.

Some use standard URLs such as /cropped-sample-logo-png/ — and these media attachment pages are not affected when Elementor is active. So the problem only affects some media attachment pages.

I’m not sure why some media library item URLs contain query components while others do not. Maybe this is because some items were uploaded directly to the media library while others were added via a page or post editor.

In any case, many of my media attachment pages generate a 404 error when Elementor is active and this problem started sometime between late May and the present.

This seems like an Elementor bug. Please pass this on to the development team.

BTW, I am testing on a site with all other plugins deactivated and with the 2021 core theme activated.

Sorry, I got the issue reversed. Media attachment pages WITH query component (?) in the URL DO NOT return a 404 error. Only MA pages w/out query components in the URL are affected with 404 errors.

Can anyone at Elementor replicate this issue using:
    – WP 5.8
    – Elementor
    – Twenty TwentyOne theme
    in a test environment?

    Anyone???
