Hi, I’m new to using Branda, and wanted to try out the text replacement feature.

I have a new WordPress 5.8 installation, Ubuntu 20.04, PHP 7.4. I started by cloning a VM I have other WordPress sites hosted on without issue, but moved to a “clean” host of “installed the OS, installed the LAMP stack, installed WordPress” for testing purposes.

I’m running the default WordPress 5.8 theme, with no extra themes installed, and no plugins installed other than Branda.

My site contains one page, with the text “John likes dogs.” I have created a Branda text replacement rule to replace dogs with cats, I viewed the site on a different browser, from a different device, yet the page continues to say “John likes dogs.”

In the Branda rule, the “Find text” field is set to dogs, “Replace with” is set to cats, “Text domain” is blank, “Scope” is set to All Pages, “Case Matching” is set to Case Insensitive, and “Links text” is set to Include.

Are there logs somewhere about why the text replacer is doing nothing, I’m not getting any error messages, or any indications that something is wrong other than the replacements that I’d expect to happen aren’t happening.

    Hi @steevbeev

I hope you are doing well.

We are following this on our Pro forums, just for future reference the issue is the text from Gutenberg won’t be able to replace using Branda, the plugin uses the gettext functions to filter the strings.

I am marking this as resolved and we will keep the support from Pro members forum.

    Best Regards
    Patrick Freitas
