the short code will show all the images that you have uploaded that are associated with the post that the shortcode is on.

so, start a new post, upload the images for that post, and then add the shortcode, and you should get a nice gallery

I’m not sure about the “monoslideshow” plugin, but I think there is a problem with the way you are embedding the images into the page.

I made my new page and selected a few photo’s using the add media button.

If you are using NextGEN Gallery, you do not add pictures to the page using the default WordPress “add media” feature. This uses the built-in media manager, not the NextGEN one. Since this plugin is using the NextGEN Gallery plugin as a base, the options for configuring the slideshow are probably in the NGG Admin options (under the “Gallery” section in the Dashboard.

The instructions with the plug in say i have to use shortcode:[portfolio_slideshow]

Okay, the shortcode (at least the ones I’m familiar with through NGG) usually take arguments that show it which gallery to embed. Your usage of the Shortcode is not going to have any effect, partly because you supplied no arguments, and partly because you tried to use the WP media manager.

I would suggest looking more at the plugin documentation, especially since this one came from NGG’s website (it is almost sure to be adequately supported), to see what kind of information you need to supply in the shortcode.

One more thing: since this is a plugin which works through NGG, it would be a good idea to add a tag which reflects that. Adding the tag will help potential helpers find your thread.

    Good luck,

Edit: Sorry, I started this reply before tgiokdi made his post. Since I wrote mine before I had read his, my post should not be viewed as a response to his, but as a a response to the OP. With that said to clarify any potential misunderstandings, I will repeat that I am not intimately familiar with this particular supplemental plugin, but I am familiar with the parent plugin. If tgiokdi is the plugin author, he probably knows more about it than I do. If not, my observation stands that this is not the way that NGG handles images.
