It would seem that UM is built assuming the user creates an account and will know the password they used when creating that account. For user imports, it isn’t clear to me if UM supports a way to send the user their password or to import a one-time password but require them to reset their password after their first login, or some other way to force the user to set their password…

I can send everyone a password reset, but that doesn’t actually change the password and they can ignore it and their password will remain the same.

I know UM doesn’t directly support user import, but it seems like there ought to be a way to make the import flow work…any suggestions?

    Hi @rodandar

When you use an import plugin, UM assumes that it has existing passwords so that the user can log in to the new site/live site using the same password. UM doesn’t have functionality that sends the passwords to the user.
