    Hi there,

I am setting up a new wordpress site on a new host and still have the default WordPress pages setup. I have not customized anything. I installed WordPress myself after configuring MySQL, etc.

Does WordPress attempt to use the /icons/ folder off of the root directory? If so, for what reason?

    The reason I ask…

I noticed that Google spiders, among a few others, are accessing *domain*/icons/folders.gif. I realized that Fancy Indexes were enabled by default and assumed that Google guessed at a fairly common directory off of root to grab files from. (I went ahead and fixed that nonsense already)

However, I decided it would be good to ask my host about it… seeing as icons/ was not even accessible via my FTP account, so I could not simply delete it. They came up with this explanation:

“I have checked the transfer logs for your domain name and found that WordPress is configured to use the icons/folder.gif file. In this case all I can suggest to you is to contact the WordPress developers and ask them for assistance.”

While I really don’t believe this, I want to confirm just in case this is true and I need to actually modify WordPress.
