    Hi,

I would like to change the email address from which UpDraftPlus email notifications are sent. Also, I would like to change the name of the source of the email.

I have two wordpress sites with UpdraftPlus installed. One site sends UpdraftPlus email notifications from “UpdraftPlus on myfirstsite.com <webmaster@myfirstsite.com>” and the other site sends UpdraftPlus notifications from “WordPress <wordpress@mysecondsite.com>”. Notice that the name of the sender and the email address are different. What do I need to change so that the second site sends from “UpdraftPlus on mysecondsite.com <webmaster@mysecondsite.com>”?

Thanks in advance for your help!

    Cheers!!

    Hi,

Is it notifications from WP.org? If so, you need to change the email on your account.

If you are referring to your UpdraftPlus.com account, then you can also change your email by logging in to your UpdraftPlus.com.

    Thanks,

    Hi Bryle,

I have installed the UpdraftPlus plugin on wordpress sites that I manage. These are not sites on WP.org.

After installing the UpdraftPlus plugin, on the UpdraftPlus configuration Settings page, I clicked the checkmark next to “Check this box to have a basic report sent to your site’s admin address”. Every time a backup is taken, it sends an email. I would like to change the “From:” address in these notification emails. How can I do that?

    Thanks!!

    Hi,

The words “your site’s admin address” are a link; if you follow that link, it will take you to where in WordPress you can configure your site’s admin address.

    Hi David,

Both sites list the same “webmaster@thesitename.com” in the “your site’s admin address”. However, the the second site is sending UpdraftPlus notification emails from “wordpress@mysecondsite.com”. The first site is sending from “webmaster@myfirstsite.com”. How do I make the second site send UpdraftPlus notification emails from “webmaster@mysecondsite.com”?

You guys are awesome for being so responsive!

    Thanks!!

    Hi,

It is because the email is not using the same domain.

To solve this, you can either:

    – Set the admin email to one that matches your domain, e.g. webmaster@mysecondsite.com
    – Use either the Send From or WP Mail SMTP plugin to override the internal wp_mail() settings.

    Thanks,

    Hi Bryle,

The admin email on both domains is set to the “webmaster” account. On the first site, the admin email is set to webmaster@myfirstsite.com and on the second site, the admin email is set to webmaster@mysecondsite.com. The issue is that the UpdraftPlus notification emails from the second site are being sent from the “wordpress” account (ie. wordpress@mysecondsite.com). For some reason, UpdraftPlus is not sending email notifications from the second site’s admin email address. Any further ideas on what is happening here?

Thanks again for your quick reply.

    Cheers!

    Hi,

You may need to use a plugin (Send From or WP Mail SMTP) to override the internal wp_mail() settings.

    Thanks,

    Hi Bryle,

I did not use a plugin for the other site that works correctly. It is so confusing to me that UpdraftPlus uses different “sent from” emails for notifications for my two different sites. Any additional help would be appreciated.

    Cheers!!

I figured it out. My site’s “Administration Email Address” did not match my site’s domain name exactly. I have been testing with a subdomain (e.g. “test.mysite.com”) but I set my admin email address in the site’s settings to “webmaster@mysite.com” instead of “webmaster@test.mysite.com”.

I hope this helps someone with the same issue in the future 🙂

Glad you were able to figure out the issue.
