• Guys, sorry for the outburst, but since the last big update of iTheme, the plugin was horrible!

You find absolutely nothing! Out of the amount of bugs!

As described in the title, one of our contributors tried to access the site a few times and all login attempts failed. iTheme blocked the user’s IP. Ok, so far so good.

I ran all the plugin options to find where the IP for blocking was added and I didn’t find it anywhere!
I went to HTAcess and there is no registration there either. It’s hard to use a plugin that doesn’t work properly! Where are the blocked ips saved?

I went to Configure > Lockouts > Ban Users and the list is TOTALLY blank!

    Disappointing this!

  • I would recommend to read the iThemes Security Pro 7.0 is Here to Make WordPress Website Security Effortless (not trying to be funny) post on iThemes blog.

The answer to your question (permanent IP bans) can be found in the Security Dashboard Updates: 24/7 Monitoring of All the Most Important Security Events section.

For the temporary lockouts you’ll need to navigate to the plugin Logs page. Look for the Active Lockouts sidebar widget.

+++++ To prevent any confusion, I’m not iThemes.

    Hey @nlpro ,

    First, thanks for the help.

I had already viewed this article days after the iTheme update.

As I mentioned above, there is no user who has been banned in the settings > ban users or in the plugin’s dashboard, even if the log is showing that a user has been banned. It’s bizarre.

Previously the banned ips were added in HTAcess, not even that is being done.

I don’t exactly know if this is a plugin bug, in fact it hinders the site’s usability.`

    Ok, I see.

Those bans not showing up (as usual) in the settings > ban users is correct.

From the Pro 7.0.x release onwards the banned hosts list seems to have moved to the Banned Users card on the plugin Security Dashboard page.
Unless the IP is added to the (temporary) Authorized Hosts list (whitelisted) it should show up in the Banned Users card on the plugin Security Dashboard page.

And IP bans should still be written to the .htaccess file.

It is a (permanent) ban we are talking about ? Not a (temporary) lockout ? (Just want to make sure we are not mixing these up).

If it turns out to be a temporary lockout, that would explain things.
Otherwise you might be hitting a plugin conflict or (newly introduced) bug with the Banned Users feature.

I’ll run some tests with the Pro 7.0.1 Banned Users feature.

Ran some tests and yesss the Banned Users feature seems to work fine in the iTSec Pro 7.0.1 release.
