• Hello,

This post may qualify as “dumb question of the week”, but let me dare… 😉

Quite often, a user will have several email addresses, e.g. John Doe has emails.

For reasons specific to John, e.g. maybe he doesn’t remember which one of his email addresses was used to create his WordPress account, he would like to be able to log in using either his username John.Doe or any – not only one – of his email addresses.

WordPress allows to log in using the username or one email address. Does it allow to log in using one of several email addresses? If yes, how to set it up?

    Best regards, Stéphane

  • There are options available to do this in WooCommerce:
    https://dothewoo.io/woocommerce-customer-multiple-emails/

and there is an out of dte plugin:
    https://wordpress.org/plugins/allow-multiple-accounts/

imo it’s not a great idea. I would encourage people to use the Forgot Password function, and enter in the username.

Thanks for the suggestions. I agree with you that the requirement to have several email addresses as login credentials is subject to caution. But there are situations where it’s (kind of) justified, so I wanted to explore the feasibility.

The WooCommerce option isn’t really an option for me, as i don’t have that environment. The second one is for several accounts sharing the same email address, whereas what I’m looking for is the other way around: several email addresses to login in the same account. Thanks for the ideas anyway.

    Best regards, Stéphane
