At Settings > Reading in your site’s Dashboard, set “Blog pages show at most [x] posts” as desired.
@macmanx Yeah, that is what I figured so for. What I’m trying to do is to display feature images along with blog posts or display posts as gallery as you can using the Latest posts block from the Editor for other pages or posts, but can’t find these options for Posts page it self.
Ah, ok you can do that, but you need to set a different front page at Settings > Reading, and then on that page use the Latest Posts block: https://wordpress.org/support/article/latest-posts-block/
@macmanx okay, so to confirm, the default Posts page can only display posts as a list with no featured images?
The default posts page is only a listing of the x most recent posts, you can’t do anything else to it except change how many posts appear.
Featured images will appear on the default posts page, but only if those images have been set properly.
@macmanx Ah got you. But I’m still unable to get featured images displayed on my website at all – single posts, Posts page, and Latest posts blocks. In preview, posts and the pages with the Latest block do properly show featured images I set, but the website version doesn’t. It just shows posts as a list and even posts won’t show a featured image the way I configured in the editor. Do you have any idea what might be causing this discrepancy (between preview and published site)?
Do they appear with all plugins deactivated?
If so, reactivate each plugin one by one until you find the one causing the problem.
@macmanx So, at first I also suspected it may be a plugin causing the issue. But it turned out that it had nothing to do with plugins. I just discovered that there are control options for Blog page just under “Content Options” in Customizer where you can control visibility of featured images for single posts, Blog page, Archive page and etc. None of the boxes were ticked for me. After checking those boxes, featured images display on my website perfectly!
I’ve learned that many of the issues I faced during the first setup are in fact a matter of locating the relevant control in Settings or Customiser and the challenge is there are thousands of controls in Customiser with no search functionality.
Thanks for looking into this for me!
Ah, perfect! And thanks for reminding me that exists as a setting in Customizer! 🙂
