Admin email gets spam even after change

Hi there,

I recently updated an admin user email on a WordPress site that I manage.
The old email used to receive tons of spam so we changed it in hope that the spam would stop. The new email address is completely unique and is not used anywhere else online.

Several hours after the changes were made, I received a series of spam emails.
We don’t have a contact form, only a subscription form and the email is not showing anywhere on the website

How is this email being leaked and how can I lock it down?
