• Good morning.
I have encountered this behavior with page permalinks.

I create a page with the permalink settings based on its name.
For example for the test page http://www.mysite.it/test

This is correctly populated and after publication this is regularly achieved.

If I subsequently decide to assign the same page to parent page Home I find, after the save page command, a permalink that I cannot modify with this structure: https://www.mysite.it/crea-il-tuo-sito-web-con-i-blocchi/test/

In order to remove the “crea-il-tuo-sito-web-con-i-blocchi” I have to disassociate the test page from the parent page Home.
The association from one page with other parent page, different from Home, work properly.
For now, therefore, I am not using the association between any pages and Home; however, with the increase of the number of pages , this is not the best solution.
The WP environment and all plugins are in the latest version.
    The theme is Twenty Twenty-One
I work on W7 and use firefox.
Thanks in advance to those who can help me.
    Paolo

  • as far as I understand, the Home page (“/crea-il-tuo-sito-web-con-i-blocchi”) is the parent page’s slug. The test page (“/test”) is a sub-page of the parent page, there for the URL becomes “/crea-il-tuo-sito-web-con-i-blocchi/test/”.

You can change the Home page slug(“/crea-il-tuo-sito-web-con-i-blocchi”) to something else.

    Thank Icf!
Yes, it is possible that this is the case.
The problem for me is that for the 2 default pages from the Twenty Twenty-one theme, Home and Blog, the slug field is not configurable in the user interface as it is for the other pages created by me.
I don’t know where and how it is possible to change the slug (in the code for example?).
    A greeting

Pages is not tied to a theme. You can change any page’s slug. Screenshot: https://i.imgur.com/UMEwaWT.png

    Thanks Icf.
The problem is that even if I put a slug of my liking when I save the change to the page, the unwanted text automatically reappears as a permalink. I solved it (temporarily at least) by assigning the home role to a page created by me.
