Backups – necessary or not?
-
Hi there!
We are using your plugin to watermark a bigger database of Images (something around 500k of images at least).
We do watermark only the largest images (full size) not the thumbnails or smaller sizes.
As you can imagine, with that many images (and just as many posts), we want to keep server and database as optimised as possible.
We couldn’t help but notice that the Plugin has created backup Image files in a folder
ew-backup.
There are thousands of backups in there, even thou we did not yet watermark any more than a few images for testing. Our questions are:
1. Does the Plugin create the backups of all images when we even just watermark one single image?
2. Does the plugin actually change the image, which means we can disable the plugin after watermarking and the watermarks would persist?
3. Is the backup folder really necessary?
4. If we where to delete the backup folder, would we also have to delete some backups in the database or is the FTP folder the only instance of backup?Do you have any suggestions in regard?
